What’s happening?
The Salvation Army in Mackay is calling on the local community to support this year’s Red Shield Appeal, raising vital funds to help people who are struggling most in the region. The funds raised will stay within Mackay and will be used to meet the specific needs of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable.
Why it matters
Mackay Salvation Army’s David Dobbie said that the past few years have been difficult for many locals facing hardship. “The last few years have been incredibly tough for the hardest hit in our community, and for many that shows no sign of slowing down. With impacts of the rise in the cost of living, demand for services is growing and we need your help. Government funding only goes so far but the need in our community puts pressure on our services.
This year we will be seeking your help to support the work we do catering for our most vulnerable. At the Salvos we are privileged to support those in our area experiencing hardship, but we cannot do this without the ongoing and loyal support of the community,” Mr Dobbie said.
