Komatsu Australia’s ‘Live Your Dream’ program has once again demonstrated its commitment to community support and employee engagement.
This annual initiative, launched in 2017, provides Komatsu employees with the opportunity to secure a $10,000 grant for their chosen not-for-profit organisation or charity.
This year, ten dedicated employees from Australia and New Caledonia have been awarded these grants to support causes close to their hearts.
Community Involvement and Impact
Colin Shaw, Komatsu Australia’s Executive General Manager of People and Strategy, highlights the popularity and impact of the program.
“The Live Your Dream program consistently earns great feedback from our people and the organisations we give back to. This year we had 32 nominations, which shows how keen Komatsu employees are to get involved and make a difference in their community,” Shaw notes.
The initiative not only fosters a sense of pride among employees but also strengthens community ties and showcases Komatsu as a supportive and socially responsible employer.
Personal Stories of Support
One standout story from this year’s recipients is that of Scott Berry, Business Manager for Construction Excavators.
Scott’s dream involves a charity bike ride from Brisbane to Sydney to support Lifestart, an organisation dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young people living with disabilities.
Scott’s connection to Lifestart is deeply personal, as they provided essential support to his son, who was diagnosed with autism.
His ride has already gained momentum, with several Komatsu colleagues joining him in a show of solidarity and support.
Future Endeavours and Ongoing Commitment
Over the next year, the ten grant recipients will implement their projects, furthering Komatsu’s mission to make a positive impact on communities.
The ‘Live Your Dream’ initiative continues to be a powerful example of how corporate support can enable individual employees to make meaningful contributions to society, reflecting Komatsu’s ongoing commitment to community involvement and employee empowerment.
