Excitement is building in Mackay as the countdown begins for the much-anticipated JET Group Mackay Sport and Rec Expo, set to take place on Sunday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MECC.
A Return to Normalcy After Online-Only Years
After the disruptions caused by COVID-19, Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson expressed his enthusiasm for the event’s return to the MECC for the second consecutive year.
With over 100 clubs on display, the expo promises to be a one-stop shop for sports and recreation enthusiasts.
Action-Packed Activities and Inclusivity
Mayor Williamson highlights the action-packed nature of this year’s event, featuring active zone demonstrations, prizes, competitions, and interactive booths.
Notably, the expo aims to be more inclusive, introducing a relaxed session from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for those who prefer a quieter environment.
Outdoor Adventures Await
Beyond the usual booths, two active zone areas, and interactive activities, the expo will host outdoor adventures such as a Scouts’ rope bridge, dragon boat paddling, woodchopping, and lawn bowls.
The inclusion of these activities aligns with the Australian spirit of embracing the outdoors.
Generous Sponsorship and Prizes
JET Group Mackay continues its commitment as the naming rights sponsor for the second year, and to celebrate, they are giving away $1000 to one of the clubs on display.
Attendees are encouraged to nominate their favourite club for a chance to win, with an additional opportunity to score a large trolley cooler bag valued at $99, courtesy of in-kind sponsor Brand Factor.
