Check your tickets Whitsundays, $2.5 million prize unclaimed

What’s happening?

Whitsunday residents and visitors are being asked to check their Saturday Gold Lotto tickets after a mystery player scored $2.5 million in draw 4605 on 6 September 2025. The winning ticket was purchased at Hickmott’s Supa News on Herbert Street in Bowen.

Why it matters

The prize is one of eight division one wins from the draw, each worth $2.5 million. Because the ticket was not registered, the identity of the winner remains unknown.

Local Impact

Hickmott’s Supa News manager Angela Stevens said the community was excited to see another big win sold locally.  “We were so excited when we first found out. It’s so nice to have another major lottery win come our way as it’s been a few years since our last one!” she said.

“The winner could be anyone, especially with all the visitors in town for the Don River Dash and Father’s Day. While it would be great if a local won, we’ll be happy for whoever it is.

“Our most recent major wins were a $740,000 Saturday Lotto ticket in 2020 and a $2 million win in 2019. On behalf of the entire team here at Hickmott’s Supa News, we wish our mystery winner all the very best and can’t wait for you to check your ticket and claim the prize!”

  • The Bowen ticket is worth $2.5 million from draw 4605 on 6 September 2025.

  • Six major wins worth more than $19 million have already been recorded in the Mackay and Whitsundays region this year.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said the winner might be carrying the ticket without realising. “While we’ve been unable to confirm the life-changing news with the region’s newest multi-millionaire, we’re sure that when they check their ticket and discover their news, they’ll be jumping for joy,” she said.

She added that the discovery could be significant: “Someone’s plans for the rest of 2025 and beyond could change in a heartbeat.”

Zoom Out

The latest draw produced eight division one winners across the country: three in New South Wales, three in Victoria, one in Queensland and one in Tasmania. The Lott’s tally for 2025 has now reached 301 division one prizes, with 71 of those in Queensland through Golden Casket.

What to look for next?

The Bowen winner is yet to come forward. Players are being reminded that registering tickets helps ensure winners can be contacted directly.
