Greater Mackay high-school students are celebrating a significant opportunity thanks to the Harding Miller Education Foundation’s academic scholarships.
These scholarships provide exceptional female students from low socioeconomic backgrounds with the tools and resources they need to reach their full potential.
Supporting Tomorrow’s Leaders
The Harding Miller Education Foundation, launched in 2015, has already supported over 1,200 students in 350 public schools across Australia.
The four-year scholarships offer invaluable resources, including new laptops, high-speed internet, tutoring, and prepaid expense cards for school essentials.
Recipients are also paired with a personal coach to guide them throughout their scholarship.
A Pathway to Success
Two Greater Mackay students have been awarded scholarships this year: Aylah Groom-Barbeler from Mackay North State High School and Millieson Groom from Proserpine State High School.
Each scholarship is valued at over $20,000 and aims to pave the way for young women to excel academically and professionally.
“Receiving the Harding Miller scholarship has opened up so many opportunities for me,” said Millieson Groom, one of the recipients. “The support and resources will help me achieve my goal of pursuing a career in education or health.”
Investing in Future Generations
Harding Miller Education Foundation’s Chief Operations Officer, Caroline Hill, highlighted the importance of the scholarships, especially as the country faces increasing pressures with higher living costs.
She encourages other young women in Greater Mackay to apply for the 2025 scholarships, with applications opening from July 15 to September 18, 2024.
The Harding Miller Education Foundation is paving the way for promising young girls to make the most of their educational opportunities. By providing resources and mentorship, the foundation is helping future generations of leaders thrive.
