What’s Happening?
Mackay indoor golfers are rallying behind Cancer Council Queensland through X-Golf for Good, a national fundraising initiative running across October and November 2026.
The six-week campaign brings together golfers, local businesses and community supporters through indoor golf challenges, fundraising events and a national silent auction. X-Golf Mackay has chosen Cancer Council Queensland as its charity partner, joining venues across Australia in raising funds for causes that matter to their communities.
Why It Matters
Cancer Council Queensland funds cancer research, promotes prevention and early detection, and provides practical and emotional support to Queenslanders affected by cancer.
For X-Golf Mackay, the campaign offers an opportunity to use its local golfing community to raise awareness and contribute to the organisation’s work.
Operations Manager Steve Goodluck said bringing people together was central to the initiative.
“For us, it’s all about bringing people together and this is a great opportunity to utilise our local network of indoor golfers to support an organisation doing such important work here.”
He also highlighted the importance of the charity’s services.
“Cancer Council provides essential support to Queenslanders and we’re proud to be able to get behind them and help raise awareness for the work they do.”
Local Impact
Mackay residents can support the campaign in several ways, including making direct donations through a QR code available at the venue.
Customers can also contribute through Chippies for Charity, which directs $2 from every serving of chips towards the fundraising effort.
These options allow visitors to take part in the campaign even if they are not competing in the golf challenges.
By The Numbers
- 33 locations: X-Golf venues across Australia are participating in the charity initiative.
- More than $21,000: Raised by the X-Golf network for the Starlight Children’s Foundation in last year’s campaign.
- $1,500: The prize pool available in the free national tournament.
Zoom In
A series of indoor golf competitions will give Mackay players opportunities to test their skills while contributing to the campaign. Activities include Mini Game Blitz, nearest-the-pin and hole-in-one challenges, with cash and prizes up for grabs.
From 26 to 30 October, the Event Night Scramble will see teams of up to four players compete in a nine-hole scramble. The top three teams will receive X-Golf merchandise.
The program also includes a Community Night on 29 October, bringing charities, partners and players together to celebrate the fundraising effort.
Meanwhile, a national silent auction will run during the campaign’s final two weeks. Items on offer will include luxury holidays, sports memorabilia and wine packages.
Zoom Out
X-Golf for Good forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting organisations through its national network of venues.
Building on its previous fundraising efforts, the initiative allows individual locations to champion charities that make a difference in their communities.
For X-Golf Mackay, this year’s campaign places the spotlight on Cancer Council Queensland, while other participating venues support causes relevant to their own local communities.
What To Look For Next?
The X-Golf for Good campaign will continue until 15 November 2026, giving Mackay residents time to participate in the fundraising activities or make a donation.
