Mackay builders shine at Queensland construction awards

Amanda Wilson - winner of Women in Building Award

What’s Happening?

Mackay and Whitsunday builders have secured four awards at the 2026 Master Builders Queensland Housing & Construction Awards.

The 40th annual ceremony took place at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Saturday, 17 October. Regional winners from across Queensland gathered to celebrate achievements in the building industry.

Two of the region’s awards went to local industry professionals.

Trent Deen from Stroud Homes Mackay received the KIA Australia Rising Star Award. Meanwhile, Amanda Wilson from Fergus Builders won the Women in Building Award.

Why It Matters

The awards recognise excellence in construction, craftsmanship and professional leadership across Queensland.

For Mackay and Whitsunday, the results highlight the skills of local builders, tradespeople and construction teams. They also recognise the contributions of people helping shape the industry.

Master Builders CEO and Awards Ambassador Sue-Ann Fresneda praised the achievements of Queensland’s builders and tradies.

“From stunning homes to world-class schools, hospitals and community infrastructure, our builders and tradies have fittingly pushed the boundaries of what was possible in this, the milestone 40th year of our Housing & Construction Awards program,” she said.

Mackay Builders Recognised for Residential Projects

The region also celebrated success in residential construction, with two local businesses receiving awards for their projects.

Morris Constructions QLD won Best Residential Bathroom for ANCORA. Meanwhile, Cotter Builders received the Home Renovation Project up to $350,000 award for Marian House.

Together, these wins recognise the region’s work in bathroom construction and home renovation.
