Ringers Western opens first Mackay store

Ringers Western Staff Caneland

What’s happening?

Ringers Western has opened its first Mackay store at Caneland Central. The brand has taken over the former Australia Post tenancy at the shopping centre.

The new store sits opposite the recently opened Rebel sports store.

The Australian country clothing brand began on a cattle station in Western Australia’s Kimberley region in 2012. Since then, it has grown into one of the country’s best-known country and western clothing labels.

Caneland Central owner Sentinel Property Group said securing the brand was a major win for the centre.

Sentinel CEO Warren Ebert said, “This is a tremendous coup for Caneland Central to see Ringers Western open their first store in Mackay at our centre.”

He added, “Their new Caneland Central store brings the unmistakable Ringers Western spirit to Mackay, offering customers access to a full range of apparel and accessories that celebrate Australian heritage, mateship, and life outdoors. We’re thrilled to have such an iconic Australian brand join our retail mix and look forward to seeing it become a favourite destination.”

Why it matters?

Ringers Western’s arrival gives Mackay shoppers direct access to a major Australian brand with strong national appeal.

It also adds fresh energy to Caneland Central’s retail mix at a time of change within the centre.

For the shopping centre, the opening signals confidence from national retailers and strengthens its position as the Mackay region’s leading retail hub.

Local Impact

For Mackay shoppers, the new store means a wider range of fashion and accessories in one place.

The opening also brings new life to a former tenancy in a central part of the centre.

At the same time, Stefan Hair has moved into a larger tenancy, adding another visible change for regular visitors.

By the numbers

  • Ringers Western was founded in 2012, giving the brand more than a decade to grow from its Kimberley cattle station roots into a recognised national name.
  • The brand has committed to a five-year lease at Caneland Central, showing long-term confidence in the Mackay market.
  • Caneland Central remains the region’s only regional-scale shopping centre, with eight mini-majors, 161 specialty stores and 21 kiosks alongside major anchors.

Zoom In

Ringers Western’s new tenancy places the brand in a strong position inside the centre, opposite the newly opened Rebel sports store.

That location should help put the new store in front of steady shopper traffic.

The brand’s identity is also part of the appeal. Its range is built around Australian heritage, mateship and outdoor life, which aligns closely with its country roots.

Zoom Out

Ringers Western’s expansion in Mackay reflects the brand’s broader growth across Australia through stores, partnerships and a strong online presence.

For Caneland Central, the opening fits into a wider retail shift that also includes Stefan Hair’s move into a larger space.

The centre remains a major shopping destination in the region, anchored by Myer, Woolworths, Coles, Target and Big W.

What To Look For Next?

The next few months should show how strongly Mackay shoppers respond to Ringers Western’s first local store.

Its arrival, along with other tenancy changes at Caneland Central, could help build even more momentum across the centre’s retail mix.
