What’s happening?

A Mackay woman is preparing to retire after winning more than $3.1 million in a weekend lotto draw.

The Queensland resident was one of two division one winners nationally in draw 4685 on Saturday, 13 June 2026. Her 50-game QuickPick entry was bought online through the official lottery website.

She received the news while she was still at work on Monday morning, bringing an emotional end to more than 60 years in the workforce.

Why it matters?

The win gives the Mackay woman something she has wanted for years, the chance to finally stop working.

“Are you serious? Oh my god. I’m shaking. I’m just at work,” she cried.

“You are joking! Do you know how long I’ve wanted to retire? I’m in my 70s and I’ve been working since I was 12.

“I’ve been visualising myself winning for years and years. I was even doing my groceries over the weekend, and I saw a poster for Saturday Gold Lotto, and I thought, ‘Wouldn’t that be nice?’.”

Her reaction showed how deeply the result mattered. This was not only a major prize, it was a long-awaited chance to rest.

Local Impact

The win is a rare local story of sudden financial relief.

The woman said the prize would allow her to retire and take her first holiday in more than a decade.

“I can also go on a holiday. You know I haven’t been on a holiday for over 10 years,” she laughed.

“This means so much to me. I always read the winner stories on the website, and I just think, ‘Isn’t that amazing?’. Now I’ll see my own story.

“I can’t believe I can retire. What wonderful news. Thank you so much.”

By Monday morning, that thought had become real. She was still at work when the call came through.

There are also two major prize draws this week, with $15 million on offer on Tuesday night and $20 million on Thursday night.

What To Look For Next?

After more than 60 years of work, the prize gives her a simple but powerful next step, the chance to clock off for good.
