What’s Happening?
Students and educators across Mackay and Central Queensland are invited to attend the Together For Humanity (TFH) Queensland and Northern Territory Youth Summit, set for Thursday, 28 August 2025, at Queensland Parliament House in Brisbane.
Themed “Bridging to the Future: Navigating identity and differences together”, the summit aims to empower young voices to share their lived experiences with politicians, peers, and community leaders.
Why It Matters
This summit offers a powerful platform for students to be heard and influence national conversations on inclusion and belonging.
“Students and teachers of Central Queensland – we need your voices at this important event,” said Annette Schneider, CEO of Together For Humanity.
“This is an opportunity for young people to develop strategies, skills, and new knowledge. You’re going to feel heard and connected.”
Local Impact
TFH strongly encourages rural and remote school communities to apply. The organisation is offering financial support for travel and accommodation, ensuring every school has a chance to participate regardless of location.
Students from Mackay and neighbouring areas will present real-world solutions to local diversity and inclusion issues and contribute to building a more cohesive Australia.
By the Numbers
-
TFH has reached over 500,000 young Australians since its founding in 2002.
-
In 2024, Queensland students from public, Catholic, and independent Muslim schools played a key role at the national summit in Canberra.
-
Key figures such as Governor-General Sam Mostyn AC, Minister Jason Clare, and Minister Anne Aly have attended past TFH Youth Summits.
Zoom In
Students attending will engage in strategy-building, group dialogue, and live presentations to policymakers. This is a chance to build confidence, leadership, and lasting networks across communities.
Zoom Out
TFH is a national educational not-for-profit backed by the Australian Government’s Connected Youth and Communities initiative. The organisation works with schools to reduce prejudice and promote intercultural understanding through school programs, professional learning, and national summits.
What to Look For Next?
Applications close at the end of May 2025. Schools interested in sending representatives should apply as soon as possible to access travel support.
