What’s Happening?
Police completed Operation Mackay Vantage after three days of coordinated activity across Mackay. Local officers worked with specialist units and POLAIR on patrols, traffic enforcement and property searches.

- Fifteen people were charged with 44 offences during the operation, which ran from 31 July to 2 August.
- Officers conducted 46 random breath tests and 43 street checks, while issuing 11 traffic infringement notices.

At about 9.50pm on 31 July, police allegedly saw a dark Ford Falcon driving dangerously along Norris Road in North Mackay. The vehicle allegedly exceeded 100 km/h while travelling through areas with a 60 km/h speed limit.
Officers arrested a 33-year-old Mackay man shortly afterwards at a Short Street address. He was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence. The man was remanded in custody and was due to reappear in court on 4 August.
A separate incident began on 2 August when POLAIR tracked an allegedly stolen vehicle to Skylark Street in Slade Point. Police declared an emergent search and allegedly found a rifle, dangerous drugs and stolen property at the address.
Following the search, police charged a 41-year-old North Mackay man with six offences. These included unlicensed, uninsured and unregistered driving, possessing methylamphetamine and possessing suspected drug-related property. He was also charged with possessing or acquiring restricted items.
