What’s happening?
The Mount Isa Mines Indigenous Rodeo Championships will be held on Sunday, 10 August, capping off a thrilling three-day rodeo event. On Thursday, 7 August, a free Indigenous Rodeo Clinic will be conducted by top cowboys Donovan Rutherford and Jake Curr, with support from mentor and protection athlete Darryl ‘Chongy’ Chong.
Why it matters
This initiative continues to empower Indigenous youth and amplify their role in Australia’s premier rodeo stage. “We’re proud to announce and host a free Indigenous Rodeo Clinic,” said Rodeo Community Board Chair Mark ‘Tommo’ Thompson. “This sport is in great hands.”
